Combi Boiler
A Combination or ‘Combi’ boiler functions as both a high-efficiency water heater and a central heating boiler, all within a single, compact unit. These boilers directly heat water from the mains as soon as you open a tap, eliminating the need for a hot water storage cylinder or a cold water storage tank in the roof space.
- Compact dimensions render combi boilers ideal for smaller properties.
- Well-suited for settings with limited or no loft space.
- Elimination of the need for a hot water cylinder creates additional living space.
- No cold water storage tank in the loft frees up space for potential conversion.
- Reduced risk of freezing in loft pipework.
- Installation is often more budget-friendly due to minimized pipework within the home.

Regular Boiler
Regular boilers, also referred to as traditional, conventional, heat-only, or back boilers, are best suited for residences already equipped with a traditional heating and hot water system connected to a separate hot water cylinder. Additionally, these boilers require a cold water storage tank in the loft to supply the hot water cylinder, along with a tank to regulate the water level in the central heating system.
Outlined below are the advantages:
- Ideal for residences with simultaneous high hot water usage.
- Well-suited for homes with two or more bathrooms.
- A suitable choice in regions experiencing low water pressure.
- Compatible with solar water heating systems, promoting a reduced carbon footprint and lower energy costs.
System Boiler
Unlike conventional boilers, it incorporates a built-in expansion vessel and circulating pump, eliminating the need for an additional feed and expansion tank in the loft. This streamlined design simplifies installation and frees up space, making it particularly advantageous for homes with limited room. System boilers are a reliable choice for larger households with multiple bathrooms, providing consistent water pressure for simultaneous use.
- Efficient heating solution for both central heating and hot water needs.
- Integrated expansion vessel and circulating pump for streamlined installation.
- Elimination of the need for a separate feed and expansion tank in the loft.
- Ideal for homes with limited space, providing a more compact heating solution.
- Reliable choice for larger households with multiple bathrooms, ensuring consistent water pressure.
